About the Author
John McCracken
Pastor · Wealth Advisor · Director of Advancement, World Impact
John McCracken has spent his life at the intersection of faith, vocation, and the human search for meaning. His career has taken him across three distinct callings — pastoral ministry, financial advising, and nonprofit leadership — each one shaping his understanding of what it means to live with purpose in every season of life.
He served for over a decade as Senior Pastor of a church in Plano, Texas, where he walked alongside hundreds of men and women navigating the questions that come with midlife and beyond: What do I do with what I've built? What does faithfulness look like now? Is there more?
As a Wealth Advisor with Merrill Lynch and USAA, John brought that same pastoral attentiveness to the financial lives of his clients — recognizing that money, retirement, and legacy are rarely just financial questions. They are questions of identity, calling, and trust.
He currently serves as Director of Advancement for World Impact, a ministry committed to the transformation of under-resourced communities through the local church. In that role, he continues to work at the intersection of vocation, generosity, and the kingdom of God.
The Higher Mountain is the fruit of all three callings — a book written for the men and women John has walked alongside for decades, who have built something that mattered and now sense there is still more to climb.
